Hello!

I tryed to encode .mpg file in vdub 1.5.4 to 2-pass XVID 24/06/2003 Koepi and/or DivX 5.0.5 CE, but this error appears when the encoding process is starting - maybe corrupt video data (-100?).
The weird thing is that in 1-pass CBR using XVID/DIVX - the encoding starts normally.
What can be wrong/corrupt with this file so it cannot be encoded in 2 passes ?

this shouldn't be a VDub, but a XviD issue. It has discussed some times in the XviD Forum. This happens when you're stats file from the first pass can't be found. Try setting a absolute path for it and make a short 2-pass test (only some frames). Hope this solves it, elsewise you would have to find a thread in the XviD forum where this problem was solved (maybe there could be something else causing this error).
Best regards,
JimiK

As I said above this error appears using DivX 5.0.5 CE 2-pass mode too. And only in that particular mpeg file. When I open another mpeg file without changing the settings everything is fine. I haven't tested it yet with another n-pass mode codecs like wm9. But with xvid and divx it cannot be encoded in 2-passes using the normal way.
