you can dl the filters from this link (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Filters/test.rar). iirc those are the only one available for non-dvd DTS playback.

1) Try WMP6.4.

2) I assume you know that you have to register the ax-files.

2) Open the avi/dts in GSpot to see what codecs you are missing.

I haven't muxed DTS audio into an AVI or MKV container yet, but I can playback standalone DTS tracks using the filters that come with WinDVD 5 Platinum.

Could you open the avi in Graphedit, to see if the necessary dshow filters are used when playing in wmp.

Link seems to be "DEAD".
Pls post new link.
I'd like to try playing a DTS-track on my system....

The link is not dead, if you only get the leech page, go to doom9's (full?) software page -> filters and d/l from there.

OK, link suddenly works now (must be "Telenet", my internet provider that scrwed-up). Registered both ax-files in W2k/SP4 successfully. But I still can't play any DTS-files in WMP, MPC nor PowerDVD3.0.

MPC still directs me to the intervideo DVD 4.5 site, but there's no freeware version... What now?

Help greatly appreciated :)

You need iviaudio.ax (http://www.geocities.com/wilbertdijkhof). If you connected 5.1 speakers to your pc you have to buy windvd (because the 5.1 output is greyed out in the properties of iviaudio.ax if you don't have a registered version). If you connected a receiver to your pc, you have to set it on spdif.

Wilbert,

I followed your guide "avi_dts.pdf" to the letter (i suppose y'r the author :) (great guide btw!) and managed to install all the necessary filters correctly. MPC6460 and WMP6.4 play fine and don't complain about missing filters anymore but I GET NO SOUND with the DTS-track!
AC3 tracks play fine in all 3 modes: 2.0 analog, 5.1 DigitalOut and SPDIF DolbyDigitalOut on a DTT2500 Digital receiver ("Creative")
Could it be that the SB Live Player 1024 ("Creative") is incapable of DTS thru-put? Neither the 2ch stereo, 2ch surround nor the SPDIF direct output seem to work.
Switching to "digital output only" on Volume Controller makes no difference.
When i use GraphEdit to verify the filters everything looks exactly as you described.

Any suggestions?
(ps, i'm using W2k pro(NL) SP4, and official "LiveDrvUni-Pack(ENG).exe"- driver dated 10/03/2003 from Creative)

AlfaStation, its probably because the DTT2500 does not support DTS decoding.
