I'm pretty impressed of Canopus Procorder quality when compressing DV videos to DVD using field based video settings. However, I have a problem choosing an authoring app for this kind of video:

Scenarist and DVDMaestro are too complicated, I just want to have a bunch of videos with a still menu and creating the menu with those requeres quite a lot of work

DVDLab was my choise of authoring app, but it seems to have problems multiplexing field based video (FF/REW doesn't work too well, synch problems etc.). These problems doesn't exist when authoring the video with SpruceUp (?so here's the answer?). But I still have some problems with SpruceUp:

1) My video is shot @ 16/9, so I'd have to change the aspect ratio for every clip with ifoedit afterwards

2) I'd like to have the videos played in a sequental order (not getting to the menu after playing a title). I've seen post describing how to achieve this with SpruceUp + Ifoedit, but again looking for an simply solution.

have you looked at tmpgenc dvdauthor? it's VERY easy to use. not sure about its field-based ability though.

I haven't tried TMPGEnc author, but found a sort of solution for my problem: I authored my videos first with DVDMaestro (no menus) and then reauthored the already authored vobs in DVDLab.
