**MODS - if this should be in Authoring or Gordian Knot, I apologise**

Hi all

I have hit an error using BeSweet to convert to AC3 from a WAV extracted from an avi. I have done this several times before using the exact same procedure with no problems, but upon authoring to DVD the sound comes through as 5.1, but sounds scratchy and distorted. The original wav plays back fine however.

I used 192 as bitrate (as I always have)but something weird has occured here.

BTW I use Maestro to mux it all together. Maestro reads the audio as 5 channel 48Khz audio, so should be OK.

Anyone have any ideas?

TIA

Are you really saying you use 192 as bitrate for 5.1 sound ????
Most DVD's I saw :
192 for AC3 2.0
384/448 for AC3 5.1

Yep, I like to maximise picture quality so I only reserve around 400mb on a project for audio, and only have 1 track (the 5.1 English) which I transcode with BeSweet down to 192. That leaves me full 4GB approx for the video.

I am in a 1 room flat and don't have the capacity for really expansive volume levels, and it certainly sounds damn good. There's certainly no distortion.

Anyway back to my query - I have now solved it so mods please close.
