I'm using ReelDVD for the last year and the soft encodes for ac-3 at a determined bit-rate, and that's all.
I'm starting to use Scenarist and I'm a bit confused with the presets of the encoder.
What should I use to get a straight encode from a wav to DD at 192 or 224, like in the ReelDVD ?
Thanks
Carlos

Choose option "Edit" in line "AC3 settings" and you can adjust bitrate there. Than input your WAV files (if you are using 6 channel mode, enter all six mono waves to correct places - make selection in boxes "Left", "Cener" and so on). For 2 channel encoding check box "2Ch interleaved input" and your "Left" file box will turn to "L/R interleaved". So select stereo file there.

My main concern is in the AC-3 Parameter Settings.
Data & sample rate is ok.
Dialog Normalization, according to the SomeJoe Guide is the average RMS level.
So far so good.
But this is the point where my ignorance comes to light.
What should I do with all the other parameters in order to make the same convertions that ReelDVD does. (simple ones)
- The bitstream info - center ans surround mix level
- the Audio Production mil level and room type
and so on.
Is there a manual for this items ?
Thanks
Carlos

there is a pdf on the dolby site which will give you guidlines for encoding, but for 2/0 the optimum rate is 192kbps
