ive been tryin to rip some del scenes of my reservoir dogs dvd, they are fully interlaced and out of all the settings for deinterlacing in dvd2svcd, telecide looked the best in the preview...i went through countless numbers of frames and everything looked perfect, i know it says PAL, but i was wondering if it really matters if u use it anyway...if so, what would be the outcome..

thanx in advance

source is also NTSC-

basically telecide(pal) is the easiest to use (because d2s directly supports it) That option scans pairs of fields to see if they are interlaced . if so, they are decombed. it works because all the fields are gonna be interlaced. its really intended for stuff that has some interlaced and some non-interlaced pairs(some PAL stuff). but it works for NTSC... it would be nice if D2S added FieldDeinterlace(NTSC) option. fielddeinterlace is intended for 100% interlaced source.

having said that.. this is really a topic for the basic forum.. besides that its been asked and answered before

Well.. after being lazy last night and using telecide() option instead of setting dvd2svcd to allow avs editing, and then adding in fielddeinterlace() manually(like i usually do) i found out why d graft says to use fielddenterlace() on pure ntsc material to deinterlace. although telecide() took out most of the interlace.. there are frames where it didnt. (i ran 2 different scripts through virtual dub basically the origional avs that dvd2svcd created and then one where i removed the telecide() and replaced with fielddeinterlace) and the output was much better. that'll teach me to be lazy. i only post this because some people are using telecide() on NTSC interlace material because it has native support in dvd2svcd.

i would really luv it if dvd2svcd added native fielddeinterlace() support to the deinterlace dropdown (or a way to add your own like in the frameserve dialog). and maybe have it when dvd2avi(d2s) auto picks NONE for IVTC mode, for it to only THEN use the deinterlace setting in the conversion tab (currently if you set it to any deinterlace it will add that setting even if dvd2avi(d2s) picks ivtc) that way you can keep your preferred deinterlace method in the drop down without it slowing up encodes by deinterlacing twice. *end wish list ;)

I find the best way to twist his arm is to do the legwork so when he gets a few minutes he can just plug it in without having to do a lot of research. So, w00kiee, think it out totally, test the idea and then just email it to him with a 1>do this 2> do this .. type of thing.

I'm not speaking for him, but normally, if the proposal makes sense to him, and the legwork and testing is done, he will probably stick it in next release or so. Just make sure the proposal is straightforward and will not open a can of worms.

That's the big problem now, any little thing changed can potentially effect so many other things. D2S, d2v, d2d, a2s, a2v,a2d,etc. and then you have all of them with TMPG, Procoder, CCE ... so the possible setups that HAVE to be tested get ridiculous.

PS. I think the whole area of deinterlacing needs to be updated and re-thought out with a more simple interface. IMO, its too confusing now.
