Hi,
I have an Xvid file that is oversized, 750mb. What should I do to re-encode it a smaller size? Would I lose a lot of quality in the conversion?

Thanks.

Hi,

You can reencode it any way you want, xvid, divx, mpeg2, etc. If you have the xvid codec installed you can open it with any vfw program i.e. VDub. Just set your desired size or bitrate so that it comes out to the right size.

You will lose quality, as you do with any transcode, but ripping a DVD is a transcode to begin with. Make sure you remember rule 6, you can just reencode from DVD if you have it, which you should if you're asking here. See the sticky in this forum for more info. If you really want to reencode it I'd recommend keeping the audio (demux it with VDubMod) and just reencode the video. There are guides for VDub(Mod) procedures on the doom9 main page. hth,

u can overwrite the file in 700MB CD.Try disc atonce[nero].Other way is to cut and reencode the credits section and finally append.

you can burn it as xcd/mode2 cd without reencoding! read the guides for how to do it...

this will enable you to burn up to 800mbs on a 700mb disk! make sure you use .ogm or matroska as container format
