Total Newbie question here but how long a video can a burn to a) a 700meg/80 min disc and b) 800meg/90 min disc?
I remember reading somewhere that you cannot get the stated minute time when burning a vcd/svcd but I'm not sure.
Thanks

Welcome to Doom9's forum.
VCD uses fixed bitrates for audio (224kb/s) and video (1150kb/s), and runs at 1X speed during playback. An 80min CD will hold 80 minutes of VCD audio and video, a 90min CD will hold 90 minutes, etc.
SVCD can use variable bitrate video, and the capacities will therefore vary. The popular SVCD encoding tool, DVD2SVCD (http://gknot.doom9.org/D2S121B1.zip), has a CD sizing table for SVCDs on it's bitrate tab.
