i just started using this program so bare with me; i loaded my *.vob files in to dvd2avi my created a *.d2v file and made a fake *.avi using VFAPI, and then extracted my subs into a *.srt format using subrip, but i can't seem how to figure out how to make the subtitles appear.

i red the dvd2avi guide, it talks about subtitles, but it sort of never mention how to add permanent subtitles to my movie, i also red some old thread, just got more confused.

uses to be, with vobsub install, when i had a *.vob or a *.avi with a subtitle file, it would automatically load into tmpgenc.

Hi,
well, I can't figure out how it 'used to be' like u mentioned in your last phrase, since tmpg can handle only video+audio, no subs as a seperate stream.
However, assuming you have this fake avi (about 8mb?) + srt (text) sub file, all you need to do now is use VIRTUALDUB + the Textsub plugin from vobsub.
Load the avi into Vdub and configure the textsub plugin (you can easily find out how by searching the forums+guides).
Feed this avi+subs to tmpg and continue as you (probably) know.

Good luck.
