ask anyone in the Newbies forum, and they'll probably tell ya i drove them crazy this past week trying to backup my first divx to dvd. earlier today i FINALLY got everything straight and had a working disk. sat down and watched the whole thing and i noticed the audio and sometimes video skip. its a low bitrate (avg. 1.34 mb) so i dont think its too much for the player (and it does it on my neighbor's player) reading the ac3 faq (#7-8) apparently bad audio extractions initially from the avi can cause this. ok. so how do i go about getting the good extraction? i did everything by the book with nandub according to the divx->dvdr guide. would really appreciate it if you could push me in the right direction. thanks!

How did you extract the audio? Did you pass it through besliced to correct the header? Did you trans-code it from a 5 channel through BeSweet?

as per the guide (divx->dvdr), i used nandub to extract a wav audio, renamed it to ac3, then let besliced "Fix" the wav header, then used ac3 maching to do whatever the heck it does....

Bit tired and not 100% sure I understand your problem but it sounds :) awfully like one I'm having. LiteOn 2001 (2.29) has very jerky video playback if I select 2nd ac3-2ch audio stream. All is well if I stick to the 1st audio stream which is ac3-5ch. If I could figure out how to extract the 2nd ac3 stream from the AVI I'd convert it to mp3 and re-mux but that's not a job for tonight.

Same player works fine with another similarly encoded movie which has mp3-160 and mp3-128 audio streams.

Video is divx 5.05 from gKnot
