thanks to ALL OF YOU, i finally have a dvd i can put in my standalone and play. as far as my earlier posts about virtaldub and lost frames, i simply set the windows cpu priority for virtualdub to "below normal" and the cce sp program to "above normal" and Bam! everything worked.
the only thing i wonder about for the future projects is that the vidoe/audio in my dvd player "kinda" skips. no bad at all (every few minutes and only for a few frames), just noticable to me (my wife thinks im crazy!) i burned the disk at 2x just in case of something like that, and ill have to try it on other dvd players before im convinced its not my piece-o-poop jvc.
again, THANKS to everyone here for your help. im sure ill have lots more questions shortly, but for now im just going to watch my dvd.
