converted an avi file to vcd.
all is fine upto about halfway thru then suddenly the audio gets about 20 seconds ahead of the video !!!!!
wtf is going on here, its not the avi file because if i run it on my p.c its fine.
i re-burnt the file but to cd but it still did it,,, if i run the cd on dvd player or p.c it is still like it, so its not the dvd player.
any ideas ?

Maybe you have vbr audio? If that's the case, demux it in vdub. Encode it to mp2 (224 kbit/s) with Besweet, and mux it in TMPGEnc/CCE again (after encoding the video).

What application did you use to convert your avi to vcd?
Did you split and encode the audio and video stream separately and then mux them back together?
Cheers

I Used nandub to split the files, it does the audio and video together.
I Then used Nero to burn it to cd.
The 1st vcd is fine, the 2nd vcd is fine until halfway thru, surely if the audio needed all "demux it in vdub. Encode it to mp2 (224 kbit/s) with Besweet, and mux it in TMPGEnc/CCE again (after encoding the video)." doing it wouldnt work in the 1st half of the vcd ?????????
The file plays fine on the p.c so again, if it needed encoding again wouldn the avi file be messed up also ?
cheers........

V Dub works not well with VBR MP3.
For demux audio Nandub is solution.
If still not OK, you may try demux as full processing mode - to get PCM audio instead VBR MP3.
It has advantage that you may check audio before mux with mpg video with MPC for example (load audio dub).

Hi-
I'll try and "translate" for you. No offense to you, ppera2. I understood you, but I can see where someone new to this may not.
He said not to use VDub for the demuxing as it doesn't support VBR MP3 and could possibly account for your problems. Use Nandub instead (I think you did). If getting the MP3 from NanDub and then converting to MP2 doesn't fix the problems, then set Nandub to Full Processing and use it to convert the MP3 to PCM audio (WAV) as it demuxes. That has the added advantage of allowing you to check for problems before reencoding the audio to MP2 and remuxing the VCD, by playing the mpg video and WAV files in MPC (Media Player Classic-available in the Downloads area). I don't use MPC, so I don't know anything about that. But evidently it allows you to load the audio and video separately for testing.
Was I close, ppera2? :)

OK, OK. I'm not so good with English to make nice guides here.
Beside MPC BSPlayer can load separated audio too (and many other player), but I think that MPC is best currently.
