Sometimes, when I author a DVD from an MPEG file (encoded from an AVI with TMPGEnc), it sticks a couple of chapters before the end on some DVD players. I use TMPG DVD Author to make the DVD and burn with Copy2DVD. Any ideas why this is?

I had a similar problem when I ripped an original DVD - it was stopping a couple of chapters before the end, so I re-ripped and set DVD2One to keep the final file size down to 4200 and it works fine.

I also sometimes get an error with Copy2DVD once it's written the cache file but just before it starts to burn. Error in something - but it still makes the DVD. Could this be it? I've seen the error posted somewhere but can't find it again!

when you've authored the dvd files, does it play to the end then? Is it only when you burn it, that it doesn't work?

Sounds really like you're using crap media.

try using good dvdrs and/or burning slower.

Check the size of the discs. See if the ones that are giving you problems are full to the end (4.2-4.38GB) and see if you have any that are smaller then 4.1. Do these have problems. I used to use cheap media and found out the hard way that it is not cheaper to use cheap media. You can rule out your media by encoding the same file that you are having problem with and make the it a little smaller this time. If the problem is gone then it is definitely the media. I also found that some of the cheapo's I used simply stopped working all together too.
