Is there anyone know of another Custom CD/DVD label website? I usually download my DVD label from www.thecovin.com, but I can not get in this website anymore.
Thanks for your help.:o :o

There are serveral on the web cdcovercc comes to mind. The big question is why would you want to put a label on them, unless you have a printer that prints directly on the disc. Labels are known to cause playback problems over time. I used labels on music disc I made. The other day I noticed the edge of the label was loose. When I picked at it the entire lable slid off the disc. The only thing I was left with was a clear plastic coaster. No more music cd. The same happens with Dvds. Think twice before lableing.

I disagree with the labeling theory, it greatly depends on how straight you attach the label, as proven in the past in this forum. It also depends on the quality of your labels.
I have around 450 SVCDs of different family events, all labeled, all stored in 4 different CD binders. I haven't recorded an SVCD in a year or so, but all of my old ones still play fine, and none of the labels are peeling. Same with my DVDs, but I only started doing those about a year ago, I'll let you know in another year or so how they are doing :)

Not trying to be a pain; but this is the second disk to do this for me. While I've only been doing Dvds for about a year, I've been doing music cds for about 5 years. Most of the oldest ones are no longer working properly. When I say the label is peeling off, that is not exactly what is happening. Not only does the label lift off intact, what it is stuck to comes off also. All of it. What I am left with is a clear piece of see thru plastic. The true magnetic media is still stuck to label; which by the way still looks just as nice as it did the day I stuck it on. Unless you can figure out how to extract the bytes from the back of the lable, I would say it's pretty much toast.
I inspected a number of disc and there are several in this condition. I am trying to figure out how to keep it in place long enough to rip the music files for reburning. Anyone have any suggestions. I feel that the same thing will happen to Dvds over time. I no longer use lables period. Just a case with a cover

A) What is coming off is the mirror part of the CD (the portion that allows the laser to reflect) not the actual data portion.
B) This cannot happen to DVD because the dye portion of the disc (the part you record on) is bonded between two pieces of polycarbonate (i.e. the mirrored portion is under the polycarbonate). The only thing you have to look out for on DVDs is unbalancing them.

When I first started labeling disk, I quickly discovered the folly of a bad label application. While you may disagree with the labeling theory; based on what i have seen with my own 2 eyes you are going to have a problem. You stated you had "around 450 SVCDs of different family events, all labeled." It's not the label thats peeling. The label itself is pulling off the magnetic media. It's not cheap disk or poor label quality. It may not happen to all disk. Before it gets to the pointwhere you discover the truth or fallacy of this, Perhaps you should give some serious thought to backing up these valuable family events. I know I wouldn't want to lose them. Only time will tell and it is a gamble.

Most of my CD media is 3-5 years in age, and it is all still working fine... All my new events go to labeled DVD media, where this 'magnetic peeling' occurence is impossible.
Thanks for the concern though.
Cheers.
