I know this has come up way to much in the past but I would like another stab at it. I was thinking that this time we could seperate the New A/V forum into 2 different ones. One specificaly for containers (ogm, mkv, etc...) and the other for new codecs (RM9, WM9, etc...).

I think this would be much more organized than just having everything thrown in there.

Yes, some members discussed this in a thread around 3 months ago but as each month goes by I think the need does become greater!

Which forum would you like to be a moderator on?

Cheers

Well I hardly know enough about the two to feel confident in the area. I just like to read all the technical stuff and try to understand it.

But if i got to pick, I would say Containers.

alright, the new forum has been created. Now I just have to figure out how to divide the audio... do we put AAC, Ogg Vorbis, MP3Pro into audio encoding or leave it in new A/V Formats - Codecs?

Well personally. I think Mp3pro, and AAC are hardly new although AAC is being improved!

Maybe it would be easier for forum users if 'audio encoding' moved out of the 'General' section altogether and was put in with 'MPEG-4 and Co'. Then rename 'MPEG-4 and Co' to something like 'New Audio and Video Formats' or 'Non MPEG-1/2 A/V Formats'

It's indeed a tough one.... glad I'm not a Moderator, Forum Leader etc

Thanks Doom9

I think it would be fine to leave the audio in the new A/V Formats Codecs. A/V means Audio/Video so lets let it live up to its name. Doom9 thank you very much for separating the forum, I'm really glad someone liked my suggestion enough to use it.

Hiro2k: you volunteered to moderate the container forum. Are you still interested?
