When i redo a AC3 file.. ex. take a 5.1 ac3 and make it a 2/0 surround compatable ac3 at 192kbps(from 448) and then play it back using AC3 filter .68 or .7b.. the drc wont work anymore...(i like to have this option checked sometimes when the movie has silent parts i dont have to boost my stereo so much that when somethign loud comes on it almost kills my ears..

What do you mean it 'doesn't work'? We're going to need more information than you have supplied. How are you transcoding? Are you using DRC when transcoding 5.1 > 2.0 ?

ok... when i open the original ac3 file.. the and checkmark drc.. in ac3 filter.. the little volume and gain levers move up and down..
when i test out my dumb-down version (no drc selected i leave it unchecked).. nothing seems to happen..
im using besweet... to go from ac3 to ac3

BeSweet's ac3enc is a minimum-feature encoder, I'm not sure about this but I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't specify the meta-data for DRC to work. If you want to use DRC, either use it when you're transcoding ( add a "-azid ( -c light )" or normal or heavy to your besweet command line ), and the DRC will be hard-coded into the audio, or keep your original AC3.
