I Have a 720 meg file ,avi movie.
Its 100 mins long.
will it fit onto a 800 meg file that has 90 mins capacity ?
Is the file, size determined or minute determined to fit ?

Hi there and welcome to the forum
The answer is yes, you should not have any problems burning your 720MB avi file to an 800MB CD-R.
You might be in luck too, if your CD burner is one of those that can recognize the higher MB CD-R's automatically you may not need to adjust any 'overburn' settings within your CD creation software.
There are some web sites dedicated to listing many of these CD burners so it's well worth looking at such sites before purchasing a new CD-R burner.

90 mins capacity, means 90 mins of CD-Audio (44KHz/16bit/Stereo/PCM)...
Has nothing to do with the length of other media...
Bye
[EDIT: Ohw, I see hakko504 has this already answered... :D]

it's more related to the bitrate of the movie. 150 KBytes/s (1,200 Kbits/s) for data and ~172 KBytes/s (~1,376Kbits/s) for audio. if it's 100mins 150 Kbytes/s it won't fit, or unless you mode2 xa it, then it might fit. it's the size, the minutes are based on a bitrate standard for audio streamed at 1x specifications. and if you have a dvd then its based on a video bitrate standard. megs is when you have data content and mins is when you have non-error correction streamed audio content on the disc.

Audio is at 128 kbps.
will it fit then ?

that plus 1072 Kbits per sec (constant bitrate) video and you'll be fine. see 128kbps (kilobits per sec) is 16KBps(kilobytes per sec (divide 128 by 8) so if you add 134 kilo bytes per sec (constant bitrate) video you'll have a 90 minute video that'll fit on a 90 minute disc.
