View Full Version : Domain Registration

I've recently begun looking into registering a domain name for an organization I'm running a website for. Looking for a little advice on who to do it through. From what I can tell, the "good name-brand" is Network Solutions, who's basic registration (for a single year) is $35.

On the other hand, there are many cheaper options available. One of them I have been looking at is www.123cheapdomains.com - theirs goes for $13.95/yr.
There's also various companies I found that offer similar cheap prices, and also offer email services, etc, etc.

My question is - are these cheap companies bogus? Or are they good? We are operating on a fairly limited budged - enough that $35 would most likely be too expensive.

Any opinions here?

Well, i use Godaddy.com (http://www.godaddy.com) and i never had any problem. I use the godaddy service for my personal website. So i store my html stuff on my ISP webspace and re-direct my domain to my ISP address..

This service goes as cheap as 8.95/year :D

Of course, this is what i do for my personal website, but im not sure u can do this for a business using personal webspace....

I've used Godaddy, works great.

As far as hosting goes, you get what you pay for in-terms of uptime, bandwidth requirements, benefits, etc. I've done websites for a couple of non-profits and use pair.com exclusively for hosting.

Yeah, godaddy is really good. I have all my domains there too. And for DNS I use www.everydns.net which is very easy very cheap (free actually ;) but accepts donations) and extremely stable.
