I intend to dedicate me only to the creation and production of games for DVD. I think that the Scenarist is indicated for this, but know little about the Spruce/Maestro. As I have interest in acquiring one of these two programs, it would like to know if I buy a previous version (2,6 or 2.7) of the Scenarist or Maestro for a lesser price. It would like to know if somebody used these softwares to make games, which prefers and why. For that see, one of the differences are that the Scenarist has more GPRMs (15 x 9). Accepted suggestions. Thanks.

You are touching the core part of advanced DVD authoring. There seems very very little information flowing around this forum on the GPRM/SPRM thing. The DVD Video Game is limited by its structure. It is only good for some "mind games" that provide no "true" real time interaction as all the video scenes are fixed by the planned sequences.

You can author games with ReelDVD plus IFOedit, when you donīt need more
than 999 PGCs, and you can make adventure games and simple arcade titles.

FYI, there are only 16 GPRMs in a DVD-player, anything else would be a hack
on the bit-level and I would not rely on it.

Just came across this thread.

There is an article about a very complex game called "Scene It" that appeared in a recent issue of DV magazine. You can get a copy of the article on-line. Do a search on the main www.dv.com website for "game."

Itīs a kind of a trivia game, not so hard to programm,
but they talk about something magic called "Optreve":

"What is Optreve?
Optreve is the first and only technology that allows state-of-the-art games to be played on home DVD players. Any DVD player will do, and no special equipment is required."

When you know that all it can be is a few lines in a few command
tables, then all you can do is ROFL.

"Optreve technology is patent pending. If you are interested in licensing Optreve to enable your DVD game or to make your existing game DVD compatible, contact ..."

Well that sounds almost like the next atempt to rip IfoEdit.
Let us hope they donīt go that far, for their own sake ...
