Hi GK devs! I am nothing and you all, but can I suggest to include the latest version of besweet in a patch of GK 0.28.5? It solves the problem with mono audio encodings...at least for me.
Bye, Yotsuya.

well, I still not sure what to do about that - just hide that tab in the preference by default?

"just hide that tab in the preference by default?"
That would be a solution and a pack that does not include DVDDecrypter. :)

As we discussed ealier since user can choose whether it can be installed or not - we do not want to remove it from the pack, just may be diselect it by default...

@selur: typical German  No other nation in Europe is panicking about the Euro DMCA. Look at the law, it is a copy of the US DMCA, and we all know what that means... We also know how it is being enforced and there are loopholes. Just recently I read a detailed analysis of the German DMCA done by lawyers of the copyright holders themselves, and they pointed out enough loopholes to make you feel comfortable. Even DVD Decrypter has so many other uses than to circumvent a copy protection, that with a name change, a good lawyer might convince a court that despite CSS descrambling, the tool would not fall under the DMCA. And I believe sourceforge is based in the US, and yet there's no special US version of Gknot either, is there? So, if you want to do anything, write to your law makers and convince them that the DMCA is a bad idea, but panicking and trying to remove any tool and instructions that might be touched by the law means the content industry has already won without a fight.

"a good lawyer might convince a court that despite CSS descrambling, the tool would not fall under the DMCA"
sure a good lawyer might be able to do that, but on the other side he might not. :D
"but panicking and trying to remove any tool and instructions that might be touched by the law means the content industry has already won without a fight."
It's not about panicking, for me it's more about being on the save side. :D
I (think I)'know' your point of view about DMCA, it's a bit like:
"I haven't had any (real) problems till today, so I don't expect any problems to come,.."
but I'm more like:
"Haven't had any (real) problems till today, don't want to get some in the future."
Don't know which point is the more realistic one and it's probably a waste to discuss that. ;)
I just think it would be good to allow people to download a gordian knot version that's on the save side.
If len0x decides he doesn't want to do so, it's fine with me, just wanted to ask.

What I suggested sounds pretty safe to me. If you are not installing the program - how you can violate the law? (as someone pointed out originally - downloading is not illegal, but usage is...)

Well.. even an MPAA lawyer would have to admit that downloading a tool primarily designed to circumvent copy protections is noting illegal. If the MPAA had their ways, it would be the one offering the download that would be sued, not the one downloading it.
Safe side on this issue also means caving in and giving the industry the Endsieg. I'm sure you'll understand that living under the DMCA threat for 3.5 years I have very little love for people who run and hide.

Yes, I understand you and I personally support the 'fighting '. (speaking with the politicians, writing stuff, etc.)
But, I also think that without giving people the choice to choose between the save and the 'rebel' ;) side, one kind of behaves like the DMCA&Co.
So I understand that it might not be the wisest action to remove the rippers, but there should be a (little) note in the 'Ripping' window of Gordian Knot. ;)

Ps.: Oversaw lenox post:
"What I suggested sounds pretty safe to me. If you are not installing the program - how you can violate the law?"
yup, but never the less, would it be possible to enter a little note (if one installs a Decrypter?). (Okay, this might be just a thing I think of at good atm.)

Disclamer can be displayed if you try to tick DVDdecrypter in the install options if someone can write the text for me :)
