hi,

i´ve some problems with my avi file. i want to encode it with dvd2svcd but ther´re are problems , too. so i checked the movie with virtualdub. vd says " truncated or invalid mp3 audio format (16 bytes, should be 30". therefore i´m unable to make a direct stream copy to a new avi film. the strange thing is that when opening the movie with gspot i get the message that 2 compatible audio codecs were found. now i´m very confused what´s wrong with the movie. when playing it on pc (with the media player verything works fine and i can hear the sound)....

i would appreciate any help..

thx

awe007,

I have a similar problem. My avi encode will play fine (video and audio) in any player. If I attempt to perform a third pass encode (Divx), vdmod will only stream copy the first few secs of the audio. If I do a file -> file info on the input avi, vdmod states the audio length is only a few seconds, not the 1.5hr+ expected. Again, the audio will play fine with any avi player.

I asked in a separate message how vdmod determines the audio length. Unsure if it calculated on the fly or read somewhere in the beginning of the avi. Does anyone know?

It is more tolerant of a questionable video stream than VDub, but the audio handling is same for both, and both are picky. If the problem is in the audio stream, then you have to extract audio with some other program (I use GoldWave), compress, and mux with your processed video. Resulting audio synch problem, which is likely, (stretching/displacement) is to be corrected as usual.

Regards.
