reinstall msn messenger

i deleted about five months ago the msn messenger with xp-antispy from my system. Now i would like to reinstall the tool but it doesn't work. I tried it with the xp-cd but in the install process, some dlls couldn't get found. Does somebody know how to do it?

well...i mean logically you should be able just to do one of these three things:

Get Trillian (includes AIM, MSN, ICQ and more)

or
get someone that has the same OS to zip their folder of c:\program files\messenger\*.*
and send it to ya. Then Extract it to c:\program files\messenger\ on your computer, then try running it

or
you could just search on downloads.com for it

trillian wont work with msn from 31st oct onwards

so no point

unless trillian pay ms to access their network

If like me you dont like the new HEAVY version of MSN 6, take a look at this page (http://www.mess.be/) under MSN Download Database (left menu) and you'll get older version of Windows Messenger from version 1! :o

Version 4.0 comes with XP Pro.
4.7 with XP Pro w/sp1, but you loose the email add-in. just get it on this same site. its only ~56k.

MSN Versions older than 5 won't work soon anymore anyway. So just do as I do - customize your MSN 6 to look like the earlier versions (I'm modeling mine against MSN 2.0 with some personal touches). There's plenty of ad-removers, tab-removers, etc, to make it nice and sober.

BTW why it wont work anymore soon? lemme guess... cause the next sp will include MSN6? AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!! thats enough for me to not install the next sp... :mad:
