Hi Doom9-forum,
yesterday I had a big crash while burning a dvd at 4x speed, my first blue screen in win2k. I'm not too sure what happened but since then my BIOS wouldn't find both my HD's anymore. I wasn't sure what to do so I though, let the pc rest for a while and then try again (sounds dumb dun'it?) well, to my surprise my primary master HD booted somehow, but the secondary was no where to be seen. I took my secondary HD and tried to let it boot by itself and so on, sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't.
I don't quite remeber what I did in my depressed condition until I had broken an IDE cable, got a new one and had it setup like this when everything booted again:
Pri-Master: Seagate HD on new, but older IDE cable
Pri-Slave: none
Sec-Master: Maxtor HD
Sec-Slave: NEC ND-1300A
Everything seemed to work fine again, just that my Maxtor HD suddenly writes at 3mb/s and reads at 2.5mb/s! as of a benchmark test which i did after I waited ages to copy files to it.
Windows2k had them all under Ultra-DMA...
Now I ask, what to do? Is my HD suddenly broken?
thanks for your support :)
