Hi,

I'm using TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus to convert an avi files to a DVD PAL format, but the sound track is missing on all files. I have Nero 6 installed and use TMPGEnc DVD Authoring. I have tried all the various Audio settings available in the Project Wizard, but no matter what I set them to the resulting MPEG file created has no sound, any ideas anyone?

What kind of AVI-Files? Some of them (especialy some DivX-Movies) do have Audio-Compression Formats (AC3, OGM, MP3 VBR) which can't be read by TMPGEnc properly.

In such cases, the use of VirtualDubMOD to extract the Audio-Part to WAV first is a good idea.

Use virtualdub or avi2wav to extract the audio. In virtualdub select on audio and direct stram copy for video and save as a different name. Load this file into Tmpgenc. It will encode faster as a soundless video. Load you audio file in BeSweet and convert it to a mp2 using the frame rate conversion option. Load both into TMPGEnc DVD Authoring and viola there you go.

Hi everyone,

@Redwoodsteve

I'm using TMPGEnc 2.5 Plus to convert an avi files to a DVD PAL format, but the sound track is missing on all files.

If you use AC3filter_0_63b TMPGEnc will work fine. I don't know what they changed in AC3filter but none of the new versions will work, at least not with any configuration settings I've tried with AC3 Config nor TMPGEnc.

Use virtualdub or avi2wav to extract the audio.

It isn't my favorite way to do it but it does work. I'd like to know if anyone has found a way to get AC3filter 0.70b (or newer) to work with TMPGEnc? I'm out of ideas other than converting with VDubMod.

Thanks. :)

Are you trying to use tmpgenc to encode the audio? I know its a extra step but I always use BeSweet and do audio seperately. I have been unhappy with what I get from tmpgenc even using a external encoder with it. Incedently I can't get ac3filter to work on my pc under any circumstances. Not even using graphedit. Something I have clashes with it. Eventually I'll track it down. Unless you are changing frame rate, Why would you want to re-encode ac3? Why not use besliced to correct the header instead? I ask because I'm always looking for easier or better ways of doing things. easier is not always better and vice versa.

Are you trying to use tmpgenc to encode the audio?

Hello. :) Yes, I am using TMPGEnc along with toolame (& cygwin1.dll), but I forget which version. I don't use the internal audio encoder because I don't like it, either. However, toolame does a nice job.
I like Wizard for messuring for 80 minute CDs. I tried doing it as seperate a long time ago & always ended up with files sizes I didn't like.

If you know a way to do it where I can use BeSweet & just add the audio later & have it come out correctly, I'd like to know what it is. Perhaps I had been doing something wrong?

Thanks for the reply. :) Looking for better ways is the smart thing to do. :) As long as you have time, haha.
