I know divx (mpeg-4) may have difficulties encoding dark scenes. Is true the same also for transocoding dvd (mpeg-2) ??

Difficult in what way? Where they come out bad? CCE never does a bad job. DVD2One/Squeeze/InstantCopy may have some issues but it usually looks just fine as long as you're not compressing alot.

For example it may be probable (if you compresse a lot) macroblock appear
