Ok...I've read everything I can about audio synch problems...I'm following tutorials for encoding to divx from Huffy captures and I get audio synch problems every time!

My captures are Huffy 640x480 0% frame loss. I've tried using Virtual Dub to do both the audio and video compression...setting both to full processing...LameMP3 audio and Divx video...2 passes. Audio is out of synch.

I've tried taking my encoded video...encoding the audio seperately and using AVImux to mux it back in. Out of synch that way too.

Dr. Divx always works fine, but I don't like it cuz it won't hold any settings that I change. For instance if I change it to use a higher audio and video bitrate than it currently defaulted to the final output still uses what it originally had set.

DVD rips encode perfectly using GKnot. What am I doing wrong when I try this manually???

Thanks!

been trying a test 15 second clip I captured. When I open the video file in VDub and preview it right off the bat it's out of synch. the original...within VDub. It's NOT out of synch though when I play the original in a media player.

upon saving as divx/mp3 the audio sounds like it's been slowed down or stretched...female voice sounds like retarted male voice and of course it's HORRIBLY out of synch.

any suggestions please...What am I doing wrong here!?

ok...I realized the reason the audio was getting stretched or slowed or whatever. I captued at 4100kHz and when I was selecting Lame MP3 at 96kb it was at 32000kHz. I tried again at 128 4100 and it didn't mess up the sound of it. But the synch was still off.

So back to the audio synch issues I've got some more info...When I open my captures in VDub and immediately preview them the audio is slightly out of synch already. (when I play them in media player they're fine) I tried opening the same file in Pinnacle Studio 8.0 and previewd...it also was slightly off. I opened it in ULead Video Studio and it was NOT out of synch when I previewed the original file. I tried to use ULead to encode to divx and however and it always crashes before it starts.

So...back in Virtual dub I was looking at the Audio/Video Interleave Options and it shows it's Preloading 500 ms of audio before video starts. Then below that where it shows Audio skew I went ahead and entered 500 there and then previewed the video in VDub and it's almost perfect! Almost...there's just barely off enough that I don't want a final copy like that. I could probably play with these skews enough to satisfy myself...but why is this happening? Howcome it delays it?
