How do i change the luminace level from 0-255 to 16-235 as docce4u dont let you change it, or is it ok as it is on 0-255.(i always used 16-235 when doing svcds and movie only dvds)
Also say you have a dvd that is linear as docce4u dont let you select that.

Last thing, is i was to lower the bias setting it reauthorist whould that effect/mess up the quality i would get?

there's a whole thread explaining why you DONT want to set luminance level to 16-235 - if i remember correctly mpeg2 is already compressed and setting the luminance level to 16-235 will compress it more making the video washed out - leave it at 0-255...do a search.

RB, in the CCE FAQ in the CCE forum, on the other hand, says it doesn't matter what the setting is when the source is DVD and you are using DVD2AVI/avisynth.

A dvd is stored in YUV which only supports the 16-235 colorspace, therefore you would only want to encode it using the 0-255 colorspace so as to not further compress the lumience level, because obviously the source is correct as is. If you are keeping the source and output YUV throughout the entire process, which is what you should do and what will happen if you use DoitFast4u + DoCCE4u, than it would seem there would be no way for the colorspace to ever change, and therefore it wouldn't matter what setting you used in CCE. There is very good evidence to suggest this is true, but I can't help but feel that I can still see a visual difference between the two settings, ie: with 16-235 set it seems I'm not getting true black. Now whether this is just a pyschosomatic response I don't know, but this is my conclusion...

If the luminece level used in this particular process has no effect, then you are safe with either setting.

If the luminence level used in this particular process DOES have effect, than you would want to use 0-255. So under neither circumstance would you ever use 16-235...so you might as well just use 0-255.

So if you want to change DoCCE4u to encode in the 0-255 range, then open regedit and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WoofSoft\DoCCE4U\template and find the template that you use, ie: Roba vs. multi-pass VBR and change the value for luminence level from 0 to 1.

You can modify most of the other settings in this way as well.

Edit: I just noticed you are trying to go from 0-255 to 16-235. I am using an older version of DoCCE4u for other reasons and the default is 16-235, so maybe the default has changed in later versions. In either case, I suggest you leave it 0-255. If you are unsure what setting DoCCE4u is using by default then just open up one of the ECL files after it is done with it and look in the settings.
