Hello everyone !

I got a new 3GHZ with 1GB of DDR-400 in Dual Channel with a 7200/8MB HD.

I used to have a 1.4ghz with 512 of DRR-266 ...

I bought this computer for gaming and encoding of course. However, I havent notice a difference in encoding audio in Head3che (AC3->VORBIS). My system reads only 53% of usage while encoding, when it used to be 91% before...

Might it be because Im encoding on a HD this is connected via the controller and not the motherboard itselft, or it is normal to have the same speed ???

I havent tried encoding a DivX yet, I do hope it will take less than 8 hours to do 2 passes for a 44min TV show episode...

It is a good sign as you system is now waiting for slower things, such as the hard disk controller to work.
If you have concerns then tell us the system that you are running.
Then we can see the problem. Around one hour would be the acceptable time for the DivX task given the preliminary specifications.

ASUS P4C800
PIV Intel 3.0GHZ 800FSB
1GB OF DRR-400 (Dual Channel)
WD 8MB 120GB 7200RPM (MAIN, IDE1)
WD 8MB 200GB 7200RPM (MAIN, CONTROLLER. THE ONE I AM USING)

I think the rest is not very needed...

does your cpu have hyperthreading?
if so, try disabling it and doing the audio encoding again.

In situations where there is little processing to be done relative to the speed of a hard disk then it is better to read material from one disk and write to another disk. This cuts in half direct dubbing operations. This is not totally true for vorbis as a fair bit of processing is involved. As for the 53% it just means that a bottleneck is restricting performance. You could do other things with your processor in the other 47%.
I use Besweet as a front end to encode vorbis. It melts my 2600XP at 100%.

I would recomend you read the Headac3he Faq on the authors site.

However the FAQ links to a shop selling Christian books and confict management videos. Hey! you get a thirty day money back guarantee.

Yes, it probably has hyperthreading... where od I disable it?

BIO?

As for the reading and write to another HD, I will try it...
