I need an information: I'd like to edit mpeg2 files (*.m2v, *.mpg) and add transitions, effects, titles, etc. I need a program that allow me to export the files without recodifying them (except the tranistions or effects, obviously). Premiere 6.5? Ulead Media Studio 7? Pinnacle Edition 5?
Thanks in advance!

You don't want much do you ?
My main goal in life is to find an editor that
can correctly edit MPEG2 video. I have been looking for
years and all I want to do is cut and join.
Womble MPEG2VCR is frame accurate, is very fast, and has
some transitions. It does not work if the video has pulldown flags.
Video Studio 7 will avoid re-encoding MPEG2 if the output
setting is "Match project". It has lots of transitions & effects.
It breaks with pulldown flags.
You can cut a section out of a DVD movie with DVD Shrink
even if the movie has pulldown flags. (most do) I havent tried
this on a IVTC capture yet.
What I mean by "does not work" and "breaks" is Audio/Video Sync problems.

Anybody ever tried this? I would like to know if it is as good as they hype it to be.

The demo is too crippled to really check out.
There is a guy on another forum who says it
doesn't work with pulldown flags, however.
They want lots of money for it

I use mpeg2cut to cut mpeg2 (satellite) files.
It works by using the dvd2avi code.

A modified version (haven't tried this yet): http://www.geocities.com/rocketjet4/

MPEG Edit Studio Pro might be the program you are looking for:

The Software is cheaper if you buy the JVC camera.
MPEG Edit Studio Pro comes bundled with the JVC GR-HD1.

Well I possess the retail version...haven't used it much, only a couple of times for cutting/joining dvd video streams (no audio, obviously).
As I only use PAL material I have no idea about the pulldown thing.
How's that for a near-worthless reply :p
