Issue: I use dvd xcopy or one of the trials of 1 click copy programs and they work perfectly with my Apex AD-1010W using dvd+r disks. The problem is that the player isn't supposed to work with these disks.

The other problem is that it costs a fee and with all the freeware out right now, I would rather work at the issue.

IS THERE A WAY to get a program or setting in a program to make a dvd+r disk work in my Apex, because other programs make the disk unusable in it, but work fine with ps2 or other dvd drives

When DVD+R discs are working perfectly with your Apex AD-1010W, i don't understand where your problem is, could you pls specifiy ?

Are you searching for a program which makes DVD+R more compatible with your drive ? Are you afraid that your drive may get damaged ?

Anyway:
My Harman-Kardon isn't specified for DVD+R and they work perfectly in it, too. I've never had any problems using DVD+R in my Harman Kardon.

But there is program out there where you can change the identification-bits of DVD+R/+RW media, for example you can change a DVD+R to DVD-ROM identification, if DVD+R isn't supported for your drive.

AFAIK it only works on older 2,4x DVD+R/RW Burners in order to change the identification-bits on the media.

Well, I'm not afraid of the dvd console, but I am afraid of wasting burned dvd+r disks that won't do anything but look good in the trash.

I have so far copied 4 disks that only work with my PS2, and in the Apex, it states that the disk is not inserted.

The main issue is that "I did" copy a disk (dvd+r) with the "dvd xcopy" program and it works fine in anything, but if I don't use this program (say I want to make an svcd or use another dvd copy program w/ a dvd+r) then it does the issue of not recognizing the dvd as being inserted.

I really just wonder if changing my disk to dvd-rom will make it work, (BECAUSE)I already tested it with an RW disk and it wouldn't work in anything on this setting.Maybe because it is an RW rather than R? More suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks

Could u pls specify which other programs you have used beside of dvdxcopy ? Which programs have u used to transcode or encode the DVD ?Which programs have u used to burn the DVD, when the DVD didn't work in your Apex ?

Besides: From my findings it is best to leave the identification-bits of a DVD+RW as they are. DVD+R may work better if you change the identification bits to DVD-ROM, if you want to insert them in older DVD-Drives.

And in addition to that DVD+RW have a less reflective surface as an DVD+R so that the lasers of older DVD-Drives may not work at all with DVD+RWs no mattter what you do.

P.S.:
For future enquiries, keep in mind that you state exactly what you have done, so forum members have a clue about it. That way you'll get a clearer and faster answer most of the times.
And the clearer you specified your problem in the title/headline the more people will get a look at your post in order to help.

I used dvdxcopy trial, but this is all in reguards to the dvd+r disk that works with my console.

The other programs that I'd rather use, are "dvdfab and dvdshrink" which are very cool programs. I'm starting to believe my issue may be with the frame rates or maybe speed issues with what settings these programs have, compared to the hidden default settings of "dvdxcopy".

I think maybe if I am able to read the disks details of the copied disk (using program ?) I made with dvdxcopy, I can get an idea of what settings to set on the other 2 programs and then it may work. Somebody told me that frame rate can have issues with some dvd players.

Thanks for the help, its giving me ideas at least.:)

There are only two frame rates: It's for PAL DVD's 25 fps and for NTSC DVDs 30 fps and you can't change them when you backup a movie.

So if you didn't backup a PAL DVD (which you got for example from Europe) and tried to play it on an NTSC DVDplayer, framerates and all that stuff is not an issue here.

I use DVDshrink a lot, and there are no hidden settings which are at work here, so that your standalone wouldn't play the DVD. DVDshrink works just fine as it is, and it is one of the best programs out there when it comes to compatibility.

I believe that it has something to do with how you have burned the DVD afterwords. What program did u use for burning ?

Here's my suggestion: Rip and transcode your movie with DVDshrink and then burn the contents with ImgTools (http://www.coujo.de/download/SetupImgTool.exe)...btw Nero BurningRom has to be installed for this program to work.

Another good program for burning DVDs is RecordNowMAX.

Hope this will work.
