I know this is probably stupid, but I couldn't find anywhere on this forum or the dvd2svcd homepage whether or not this program can or can't create vcd's. I am looking for a tool that I could backup my episode dvd's onto vcd's and then use svcd2dvd to put them back onto dvd-r. This would allow me to fit over 15 1 hour episodes onto 1 dvd-r. If this is not the tool I need then would somebody point me in the right direction?

So, as to the first question, did you select VCD in the misc tab? If so try it with TMPG. I've never done it but it is supposed to work.

when itry to create vcd from sg1 dvd's they seem to encode some of the episodes together. what can i try? the only thing I changed from defaults is use vcd template under misc tab.

You can try ripping by chapters, they usually correspond to episodes, just check the chapters you want for your VCD in the conversion tab.

If the chapters don't add up to episodes, you can use frame selection and select the episode(s) you want that way.

I guess this is a bit annoying if it's for DVD-R though, doing it one disc at a time?!

Maybe it would be better to manipulate the disc sizes in the bitrate tab(I use 4410 for DVD) and do a giant size VCD to fit on one (or half)DVD-R?

What I will do is just create 1 large file and use Tmpgenc to cut them up. using svcd2dvd to put back on dvd-r and I wat each episode to be in it's own VTS.
