URGENT! Problem with VirtualDub, won't finish. Stuck on 99%

[Help me im stupid]

I am encoding dv video to divx 5.0.5 and on the last pass (doesnt matter 2nd or third, it's always the last one) it freezes on like 99% and it does not move. It processes 0 frames and it's acting really weird and being real slow. I dunno what to do, this is the third time its happened. Only happens on multi pass i think. How can I fix this???? Its pissing me off. Also it gives me some error on low virtual memory and I did put that on automatic, but before that it was like 1gig anyways. Any ideas?

What version of VirtualDub are you using? That's a known problem with 1.5.3. Try 1.5.4; if that doesn't fix it, try 1.5.1.

Thank you for replying to my dumb post. i should have went to make sure I had the latest version. I will try it tonight with 1.5.1.4 , thanks!!

Hi,

I just went trough a similar experience. On the virtualDub status window note how many frames are left before the freak-out. On the video I just did it was something like 184543/184544. The last frame was freaking out divx. Chopped it away and all was well... except for 35 hours of CPU time wasted on the previous 4 attempts.

thanks. I upgraded and I didnt have to chop off the last few frames, but it was a waste of time. Ah well.

also make sure your hard drive will hold the files.. ive done that before and it wont let you encode past the hd ability to hold a file.. obviously..


that really makes a person feel stupid..
