I want to convert some old mpg1 files into smaller mpg2.
This stuf about avisynth and CCE is to much for me
so I'm still looking for a easy to handle programm.
If possible I'd like something with included bitratecalculator and the ability to encode at least 2-Pass-VBR
(Please NOT TmpgEnc doesn't work for me)
Any suggestions ????

there's no point of convert mpg1 -> svcd, cause the quality won't improve in anyway, just get worst; if the mpg1 is vcd complaint, burn it as a vcd.
since you can't uses tmpgenc, the only encoder i can think of is flask/xmpeg. have you tried difference versions of tmpgenc? they might work for you.

I know that there's no real use for this conversion but as already told the Mpg1 files are to large to burn them to 700 Mb CDs and my Drive doesn't support larger blanks, so I thought of converting to variabel Bitrates in hope to get smaller files.
I'll try this flask/xmpeg
thanks so far

800mb of (s)vcd will burn to one 700mb disc.

if you lower the bitrate of the audio to 160kbp, you can add an extra 5min, which mean an vcd up to 85min. of course that you mean it would be a non-standard complaint vcd, but for me, nero said it's standard complaint.
you didn't really say that the mpg1 was to big to burn.
just so i would understand, even though this is the (s)vcd forum, are you burning data or video?

I recommend that try kvcd templates (there is lot of Mpeg1, no need for Mpeg2 if it's problem)
