VDubMod Crashing - Any suggestions ?

I am trying to encode a 1400MB movie using DivX 5.0.5 Pro. My Source is a DVD->DVD2Avi->Avisynth 2.5.2->VdubMod. I am using fast recompress, and my Avisynth script only has a FieldDeinterlace() and a LancozResize() function calls. I try to to a 2pass encoding using the new Multipass of DivX Pro. The first pass completes successfully, but the second pass always crashes at 940MB. Any suggestions on where I should start looking for the problem ? :confused: :confused:

Perhaps you don't have enough place on your hard disk ?

That doesnt seem to be the problem...I have 6.2GB of free space ... shouldnt that be enought ?

It should, yes. But it was the only reason ( I could think of ) which could make Vdub crash so systematically always at 940 Mo.

I've already experienced crashes when encoding, it was a deficient RAM, but the crashes were randomly distributed in time. But if you added some RAM recently, it might be the cause.

Else, I don't know enough the behavior of DivX5.05. It might also be guilty ( I don't think so, but who knows ).

Do you have any problems encoding other movies ? Are you sure the first pass is completely done ( if not, the problem would be the source ) ?

Seems the problem is Avisynth (ver 2.5.2) as the exception I get is from avisynth. I will install the latest version of Mpeg2Dec3 by Nic and the latest Decomb package, and try once more ...

I have a similar problem. It always stops going at 99%, its been about an hour now at 99%, also 5.0.5 divx converting from dv. Please help? Only happens on multipass.

Seems that I found the problem, and it is faulty RAM (or MB). I ordered a new DDR Chip and I ll replace it. Thanx for all the help everyone!
