I have a question about your guide for DVD2DVDR. In the Encoder Settings part you talk about what to check and what not to check and I take it you get this info from a tool called Bitrate Viewer. I had done a couple of backups just using your settings, checking Progressive frames and Zigzag scan order and all the Force Film options, and all went well. But whne I tried the Aliens series, I ran into a problem. Whenever there was motion, the screen kind of fluttered and shook at times. Audio was fine, though. I tried a software player and playing just the files with PowerDVD and it seemed to cure the flutter for the most part. So I figured a burn problem or bad media. I then tried a bunch of different burning methods and different media, all with the same flutter on both my standalones. After re-reading your guide, I decided to try the encode again but this time I just went with the Encoder settings that loaded with the movie, EXCEPT I unchecked Upper Field First as I want NTSC. In essence what changed is that I left Linear quantizer scale checked. I did the first Alien movie again and the flutter is gone. Only difference is the Linear quantizer scale option. I started redoing the second movie when I left for work and will check it out when I get home to see what the results are. I guess me question is should we be finding out what the neede settings are before encoding or should we just trust what DVD2DVDR loads?

Copy and Pasted from guide
"Open Bitrate Viewer and select the VTS_0X_2.VOB ...ok that is extremely important..so it's worth repeating select the VTS_0X_2.VOB from the main movie VTS. Ok now did I say open 0.VOB or 1.VOB? No I didn't so don't do it. Don't have it analyzing the intros but the main movie itself. Did I mention to select the VTS_0X_2.VOB only?"
Open bitrate viewer before encoding and follow what I say to the letter.Preferably before....most hollywood NTSC movies are progressive. Concerts, music dvds are most likely interlaced.

copy and paste from guide:
Encoder Options:
NTSC DVDs check Progressive. Uncheck Linear quantizer scale and check Zigzag scanning order since Bitrate Viewer reported progressive, nonlinear and zigzag. Always uncheck Upper Field First.
Check Force Film, 2:3 pulldown, Set 'Drop-Frame' flag, Set Progressive-Flag.
Settings in the screenshot work great with most NTSC Movies. I usually don't even check in Bitrate Viewer.
I have to admit I had not read down at the bottom of the guide. I was just using what I thought pertained to what I was trying to do. I'll check it out tonite. Thank's
