Well DVD2AVI doesn't use DirectShow, it uses DirectDraw (as does the videorender on playback). So it's not a DirectShow Filter problem.
If I was to guess (and it is a guess) I'd say your graphic's card's memory is bad...do you play many 3d games? Do they work ok?
Hope that little bit of info will be of some use,
Cheers,

How strange....if your definitely getting it in DVD2AVI as well, then it's not a software thing, but a DirectX/Video Card/Driver/Hardware (memory) thing.
All I can suggest is trying different video drivers (older or newer)? (but seeing the GF2 card uses different drivers, I doubt it will help). Also try clicking Start->Run then typing dxdiag and hit OK to run the dxdiag tool. Clicking on the Display tab will allow you to turn off DirectDraw acceleration...to at least see if that narrows down the problem (but is no solution :( )
Otherwise, Im stumped too. Very strange. Do you get this with every type of movie (MPEG-1's as well), in PowerDVD and definitely in DVD2AVI? Any other weirdness with your computer?
-Nic
ps
See, normally green spots while playing something like an XviD movie, would mean you just have an old DShow filter for XviD. But if this happens with every type of movie and all Media Players(MPEG-1, DivX, etc), and definitely in DVD2AVI then it's nothing to do with filters. So please be 100% on which scenario it is.

yap i have this defenitve in dvd2avi too, cause i made the snapshot of it
i checked several xvid, divx, wmv clips and a few vcd clips, all have the green pixels
the pixels dont appear steady only from time to time, i can watch for some minutes without ones but then again here they are ;)
but its always at the same timestamp!
below a summarize of my progs and tests
software:
progdvb 4.23
powerdvd 5
directx9b / 8.1
technotrend driver
dvd2avi
pvacut
pvastrumento 2.30
zplayer
winxp/w2k
workin without problems:
- viewing the recorded .pva in progdvb
- .mpg/.mpv (demuxed with pvastrumento) viewing in zplayer (videodecoder cyberlink)
not workin / green pixels
- .pva in pvacut
- .mpg/.mpv (demuxed with pvastrumento) in dvd2avi
- .mpg/.mpv (demuxed with pvastrumento) viewing in powerdvd (which is very strange, cause zplayer is workin fine with the cyberlink decoder )
- .avi (divx/xvid/wmv) in zplayer
the bad thing is, its not only a viewing error when i make a svcd or avi the green pixels are in there too
it seems i am the only with this kind of prob :/
ill check tommorrow pc ram maybe this will help
and thanks a lot to you nic giving me some suggestions! :)
