Hello
I'm a newbie asking for help!
I have some DVD-Rs with concert videos that were authore on standalone
machines and have tracks marked every 5 minutes. I would like to reindex so
there is a track for every song.
I already have written down on a text file the minutes/seconds where tracks
should be.
I believe this can be done with IFOEDIT but I don't know how and have not
found any guides.
Can anybody let me know how it can be done?
Thanks a lot

Javier

The basic unit in a DVD is a cell. Programs point to cells, so you can have as many different chapters as the number of cells (not more, unless you want a DVD with chapters that play the same thing).
In your case, if your cells correspond to tracks (that is each program points to a 5 minutes cell), I'm afraid you won't be able to reindex with IFOEdit, cause you can't make a program pointing to the middle of a cell, and I don't think you have a concert with all songs lasting 5 minutes
Maybe you should use a reauthoring tool to change cells' length or to break them where songs start and finish (I don't know if this is possible, and I don't know which tool would work for you, cause I never use any of them, sorry :) )

this dvdr has 25 chapters, minutes each, and about 125 cells I think. There are many cells per chapters. I think this was recorded on a panasonic standalone dvd recorder. thanks a lot. javier

So if you have 25 chapters, 5 minutes each, and 125 cells, you have 125 1-minute cells. You can add chapters pointing about every second/third cell to get closer to the lenght of songs, but you won't be precise. If it's enough for you, OK, otherwise I think you'll have to reauthor your DVD ;)

This is probably your quickest route whereby you don't have to stick to the chapter method - you can use the slider too. Only drawback really is that you can't hear the sound so you should sit down and write down the exact In and Out points before you start.
The resulting output is a multiple VTS DVD structure that you can burn straight on to a DVDr.

Open the video_ts.ifo in DVDshrink and follow this guide:
