View Full Version : How to Join AAC In a OGM Container

Rookie question i Know, but it's give me problems so...
I have encoded a little bit from a Movie i have in Ogm Container, like this:
K-19.ogm (20MB)
And then and after making some test i use Besweet and the aacenc.exe to make an aac file, i have encoded all the AC3 File in VBR 128kb (about 100MB).
Then i use OggMux, i input the K-19.ogm and put the aac file in the audio and Press Mux but don't seem to work, it appears:
Can't render the AAC file, i try with a Ogg file and the same result.
So i think
1 - Maybe i can't input an ogm file in oggmux, only avi
2 - Maybe i have to encode the all movie as well as i have made with the audio
3 - Maybe you can help me, other idea instead of oggMux is appreciated as well.
Thanks for all your help.

As for AAC, have you tried OggMux_Nic ? It's a great tool...

Another possibility is to use GraphEdit (in that case you'd have to convert aac into mp4 temporarily)
There might be a "direct" way to add AAC to OGM, but I'm not sure....

If you are planning on using graphedit, I think you also need to install some filters.

I've been muxing Nero6 AAC-HE into ogm. OggMux_Nic seems to work well for 2-ch source, but I had trouble with 6-ch source -- the resulting ogm file crashes my player (mplayerc, radlight, divx player 2.1, etc.) so I tried using graphedit for my 6-ch source. Works great in graphedit (mux the mp4 output file)!
Your results may surely vary!

(Did you try 3ivx instead of coreaac for replaying?
Did you try graphedit?)
BTW: I heard that HE-AAC is SBC like mp3PRO. mp3PRO is not great unless you replay it with a special player and if you play it as a common MP3, the quality is poor like its low bitrate. HE-AAC is HQ even if you replay it with an ordinary decoder?

Did you mean to say that LC-AAC is HQ even.....????
According to this thread, 3ivx doesn't do HE yet, but it will:

CoreAAC already decodes HE-AAC.
As I recall, my filters screen says that the 3ivx spliiter is being used, but CoreAAC is doing the audio decoding.
6-ch HE-AAC playback with CoreAAC works for me, if muxed with graphedit -- it's just my 6-ch OggMux_Nic files that have problems. My 2-ch OggMux_Nic files seem to play okay.
I need to do more listening tests, though.

mp3pro can be decoded by existing old mp3 decoders (that doesnt support mp3pro), but in that case mp3pro is not high-quality as it should be.
similarly, what happens if HE-AAC is decoded by an AAC decoder that doesnot know how to handle HE. (1) Can't decode at all. OR (2) Can decode but as non-HE (low-bitrate) AAC? -- was my question.
But that was off-topic, this thread is not a right place to ask about it and I shouldnt have asked that here. Sorry for confusing you.

I think the latest CoreAAC filter is now working for my 6ch-Nic's Oggmuxed files! More testing needed....

As far as i understadn it can not work as DirectShow dont know correct sampling frequency from OGM container, so Nic has to add a tag or so to indicate its AAC PLus inside the OGM. No idea how to tell CoreAAC then

I was right the first time -- 6 ch AAC+ doesn't playback correctly when muxed with OggMux_Nic but 2ch. works.
The 6 ch. files that I muxed with graphedit seem to work fine.

Thanks for your time and help.
I have tried OggMux from Nic and perform the job for 2channels in AAC.
Appreciated.
