Hi Everyone,

I have an ASUS 7700 deluxe card for capturing PAL interlaced 704x576
footage ( VHS ).
It works fine except Field Dominance sometimes gets swapped after
some time and even this effect go back and forth maybe 3-4 times in
30 minutes.( The final footage would look very ugly, that results jerkyness in common DVD players if I hadn't addressed this issue )
My question is whether that few dropeed frames I usually have during the
capture process could eventually cause this syndrome ?
And if so, so far I've been under the impression capture cards are
dealing with frames not fields, so if there are dropped frames the
inital field sequence won't get hurt. Maybe are there any automated
procedure to eliminate this effect ?

Now I'm a bit confused, please help me, any comments are warmly
appreciated.

Best regards

Hi Peter,

if you know how to use AviSynth, you can easily solve your problem using Donald Graft's Telecide filter from the Decomb package, provided that what you are talking about is nothing but a changing phase shift, and the source material is originally progressive (e.g. Hollywood films).
