i have some dvds that were given to me but very poor quality, you see square like shades around figures and text. i put the individual files on dvd shrink and they looked really great. the problem i have is when i go to shrink i get error v_map does not start at zero. if i could somehow reencode i think i could make this look decent. any help please, im kind of new to dvd authoring to begin with.

DVD Shrink, as the name tells u, it is a tool to shrink DVD9 (holds more than 4.7Gb) to fit into one DVD5 (4.7Gb). Most of the time, even u only copy the movie w/o the extras, u will lose video quality since most movies r > 4.7GB.

Thus, as I understand, using DVD Shrink to make a copy of your 'already in bad shape' DVDs will only produce identical quality DVDs. It won't make it looks any better.

How the video looks in the DVD Shrink preview screen doesn't reflect the real quality of the video.

thanks for reply- see i had gotten a badly produced dvd before, and out of curiosity i put it on shrink just to re-encode, my copy is perfect and their original is awful. so even using a minimal shrink i was able to correct the problem.

any thoughts on how i can re-encode this.

thnks steve
