I have been using DVDshrink, VOBedit and IFOedit to rip scenes from my dvds and stitch them together to make demo dvds (burning on a sony dru-500a using the burning software that comes with (Record Now). Overall, it works well but I ran into a few problems that I hope you can help with.

1. How can I force a default language in a clip? Everything works fine when the audio stream I want is also the default audio stream but if the 5.1 stream is the second choice then I have can't figure out how to switch it. I have tried using DVDshrink to only rip the audio track I want (this usually leads to no audio). I have tried stripping streams in IFOedit (doesn't seem to get the job done either). I have tried using IFOedit and going into VTS_PGCITI and VTS_PGC_1 and switching the audio stream #'s by putting 32768 as the value next to the audio stream I want to play by default (this method was part of a thread by 2cool on 2/24/03).

2. I have tried to mix dd 5.1 and dts clips on the same disc and find that the dd tracks play fine but the audio on the dts tracks doesn't work (usually no audio unless I switch to audio stream 2 which gives 2 channel audio). I am under the impression that since I am combining clips that I can't have different audio streams for different parts of my demo dvd.

3. I would like to have each demo clip play for a chapter only (some clips span 4 or more chapters), so if I have 10 clips - I would have only 10 chapters.

4. Can anyone steer me towards a program for making a menu for a dvd full of clips.

5. How can I have my demo dvd playback over and over (I know I can set my dvd player to do this)? Currently, the dvd plays and when it reaches the end it just stops.

Thanks --

Soo many questions in one post but only questions 1 & 2 are relevant to your thread title. The next three doesn't have anything to do with audio.

Let me try to tackle this...

Right click on any command line and select "Add PreCommand". You will get a new PreCommand at the end with a NOP. Right click on this new PreCommand and select "Edit Command". Select "(SetSTN) Set Audio Stream Nr" in pulldown menu. Now the Stream Nr # will correspond to your audio layout (ID: 0x8#] in your IFO's / VTS Overview / Title Set (Movie) Attributes section. Save your IFO and test.

I am under the impression that since I am combining clips that I can't have different audio streams for different parts of my demo dvd.I keep telling people that combining VOBs with different movie attributes will result in problems like you are experiencing. Since they are all in one IFO in a single PGC, it would be impossible to auto-switch attributes during play.
3. I would like to have each demo clip play for a chapter only (some clips span 4 or more chapters), so if I have 10 clips - I would have only 10 chapters. Now if you didn't do what you did in your Question 2 and every VOB has the same attributes, here's my guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47929) on your fix.
4. Can anyone steer me towards a program for making a menu for a dvd full of clips. There are lots of authoring programs around that you can dabble with. Just do a search. My personal preference is SpruceUp and TMPGenc DVD Author. TMPGenc DVD Author can accept VOBs inputs if you have the associated IFO with it.
5. How can I have my demo dvd playback over and over (I know I can set my dvd player to do this)? Currently, the dvd plays and when it reaches the end it just stops.Try doing this. Go to the your .IFO / VTS_PGCITI / VTS_PGC_1 / PGC Command Table. Change your first Jump/link Post Command by right clicking and selecting "Edit Command" and then selecting (Jump_VTS_TT) Jump to Title in this titleset. Most likely your Title Nr. will be 1. As a good habit, always backup your IFOs and BUPs prior to editing in case you mess up.

I tried following this action and am unable to get IFOEDIT v0.95 to popup anything with a right click on a command in the VTS_PCG_1 table in VTS_PCGITI.

UPDATE - To clarify, you must right click while on the "Size of Command table in bytes" line in the PGB Command Table section of the VTS_PCG_x section. You may need to scan down a bit since it is located down in the table.

Thanks, Don

"Size of Command table in bytes"
Yes I noticed that that works too - however if "There is no command Table" you need to right click these words and choose "Add Pre-command"
