Tried to bear with me on this...this seems VERY VERY odd to me.
Also if you have not tried this yet...please do to see if your
results are the same, i think it should be.
Ive been using DJ to burn cds. I dont have a dvd burner (there is no cd burning forum). However this might exist in DVD too with DJ...i dont know.
Ok, it seems to burn a extra 15min no other app will. Not Nero, Clone, or CDRwin as of yet can do it.
I found this about about 2 months ago. Im using dj 4.xx? and i use it to burn 1-15 file's on cd. The optimize burn feature rox and burns the fastest possible with my burner and never had a cd "complete successfully" that had a glitch at all using this feature. Ok so i dragged over a .avi file that read in Win Explorer as of 728mb. Didnt pay attention to the size when i did this...just 1 cd size track so i draged it over and burned the cd. It didnt prompt for overburning. Ok now i take this cd down to a friends house so he can copy it and he use's Nero always (or cdrwin). He tried to 1:1 and nero prompted about how it needs to overburn. This seemed strange to me because DJ didnt prompt for overburning when i burned it. So he tried Clone and CDrwin...same deal it was too big to fit and needed to be overburned. So i told him to try DJ so he downloaded it and tried it with DJ. It did NOT prompt for overburning for the 1:1 copy...it just worked fine.
I get home and try this myself in the same apps he did (clone and cdrwin). Same thing, too big to fit. So i tried it in DJ now and sure enough it didnt prompt for overburn.
So i extracted the .avi back to the HDD (already deleted orginal). It read that the size was like ~728mb. So im back to where i started. So i tried to Nero and Cdrwin to burn this .avi file. Nero prompted for overburn again and cdrwin just said too big. So i dragged it again into DJ and sure enough, it didnt prompt for overburn.
Now i thought it was just overburning anyways since i have that set in options to toggle that option. But it's not. I added a extra 10mb to the layout in DJ and it prompted that (yes or no) to overburning. So i went ahead and overburned it. It completed fine. Both the .avi clips play flawlessly through to the end.
Now i tried the same 2 clips with Nero (728mb and 10mb clips). It prompted for overburn and i went "ahead" and overburned it. The cd did not complete. It stopped on the 728mb .avi about 2min short. It didnt even get to the 10mb clip at all.
So....what's happening here? This seems very strange.
oh ive been doing this for the past 2 months...and it is always the same thing. I get a extra ~15mb. I use MODE1, close disc and it just works out of automagic i guess.
