To:The great folks of the Doom9 forum.

Hello Guys, just finished mpeg2 encoding a home movie and noticed a slight ''RINGING'' in the audio.I read through the guide looking for ''Mono'' audio and how to overcome this problem but did not find anything.Do you think if I encoded with ac3 I could fix this small problem?Ok guys thanks for all your help and time and your knowledge is much appreciated.

hmmm... could you describe 'ringing' a bit closer... or perhaps, what would be even better, could you supply a small sample to download for us?

what format is your audio in right now? PCM? or mp2?

also, if your audio is true mono (only 1 channel) perhaps you'll want to try to do the audio as a 'dual mono' stream. in other words make a stereo audio stream where both channels contain the same audio... i do not know for sure but it might be that the DVD specs are not fully compliant with true mono!

hope this helps :)

Steve thanks for the return info. While the video is playing and people are talking the ''ringing'' will start then stop after the talking stops.I checked the audio and it's 2 channel and I think it's
mp2.I may try to use BeSweet and convert it to mp3.Ok Steve thanks for all your help and time.

Have a great day.

This ringing effect reminds me of an audio capture I did from a vhs tape and filtered it a little in Cool Edit Pro to remove the background noise. Have u, by any chance captured in a low bitrate or filtered the audio at all. This can explain the ringing, if it is the same as mine's.
