Just wanted to put out a “learning” cheat sheet on this movie using DVD Shrink 2.3 to downsize the movie and using IFOedit to edit and get rid of some unwanted stuff. The end quality is great IMO. It took me two days to do this cheat sheet with my eyes closed.

Tools I used
DVD Decrypter in File Mode
IFOedit 0.95
DVD Shrink 2.3
MenuEdit 2.1.1 (registered) Optional but it does clean up the menus of unused buttons.
__________________________________________________________
1. Create a folder named “Daredevil” and a subfolder named “Files”.
__________________________________________________________
2. Using DVD Decrypter in file mode, rip all files to your “Daredevil” folder.
__________________________________________________________
3. Open Video_TS.IFO with IFOedit and press “Get VTS Sectors” buttons to load other IFOs.
Note: I didn’t get any errors detect but I do this out of habit.
__________________________________________________________
4. Backup all *.IFOs and *.BUPs files to “Files” subfolder. It’s a good practice to backup these files prior to editing. In case you mess up in editing, you can always copy your selected original files over your badly edited ones and then press your “Get VTS Sectors” button to refresh data in IFOedit.
__________________________________________________________
5. Bypassing Unwanted Pre Menu Intros

In VIDEO_TS.IFO / VMG Overview / Language Menu Unit 1, delete playback on the following menus separately. Select menu and press your Delete Playback button. If successful, your menu in question would result in a value of zero for Programs and Cells and (uses VOB-IDs: #) should disappear.

Language Menu Unit 1: [English]
Menu 18: [entry only]...(Programs: 1) (Cells: 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 5) FBI Warning
Menu 19: [entry only]...(Programs: 1) (Cells: 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 6) FBI Warning
Menu 20: [entry only]...(Programs: 1) (Cells: 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 7) FBI Warnings
Menu 21: [entry only]...(Programs: 1) (Cells: 1) (uses VOB-IDs: 8) FBI Warnings
Menu 22: [entry only]...(Programs: 2) (Cells: 2) (uses VOB-IDs: 9) Comment & PG-13 Movie Rating

Note: I opted to do this because if I jumped to the root menu of movie, I would be bypassing needed commands that would not make the Enhanced Viewing Mode work properly.

6. Bypassing 20th Century Fox Logo Before Movie Starts

Go to Video_TS.IFO / VMGM_PGCI_UT / PGC-Menu_24 / PGC Command Table. Right click on Pre Command line and select “Edit Command”. Change Title Nr. to 1.

OLD > 1.Pre Command...(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 10...[30 02 00 00 00 0a 00 00]
NEW > 1.Pre Command...(JumpTT) Jump to Title: 1...[30 02 00 00 00 01 00 00]

This method is documented in this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&postid=245500#post245500).
__________________________________________________________

7. Save Video_TS.IFO and .BUP
__________________________________________________________
8. OPTIONAL: Main Menu (Without Pre-Company Logo) Upon DVD Insert

Go to VTS_05_0.IFO / VTSM_PGCITI_UT / PGC-Menu_8 / PGC Command Table. Double click on Number Pre and Post Command lines and enter new values. Basically, we’re converting all Post commands into Pre Commands so that we can bypass the default menu and get the second main menu. I opted to do this cause I hated seeing the 20th Century Fox intro logo again.

OLD > Number of Pre Commands....3
OLD > Number of Post Commands...3

NEW > Number of Pre Commands....6
NEW > Number of Post Commands...0

This method is documented in this guide (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=50245).
__________________________________________________________
9. Save VTS_05_0.IFO and .BUP
__________________________________________________________
10. Bypassing DVCC Logo After Movie Ends

Do the same in VTS_03_0.IFO/ VTS_PGCITI / VTS_PGC_1 / PGC Command Table as previous step

OLD > Number of Pre Commands....2
OLD > Number of Post Commands...2

NEW > Number of Pre Commands....4
NEW > Number of Post Commands...0

__________________________________________________________
11. Save VTS_03_0.IFO and .BUP
__________________________________________________________
12. Press DVDPlay to preview/test in IFOedit. If everything is okay, proceed on to next step.
__________________________________________________________
13. Transcoding with DVD Shrink

Now, since the DVD is too big, we will have to shrink or transcode it in this case. I used DVD Shrink 2.3 to successfully do this step and below is the settings I have done. Of course, you would have to create a destination folder. I’m not going into details on how to use DVD Shrink but it’s fairly easy to use.

14. OPTIONAL: Deleting Unused Menu Buttons

In this step, I used MenuEdit 2.1.1 which I had registered. This is IMO a great asset to my backup software inventory and it was worth the money. The feature I needed, Jumping to a non deleted button, when deleting a button is only available in the registered version of MenuEdit. Below is the information to which VobIDs and buttons you need to delete since we didn’t keep them in step 12.

Go to your transcoded DVD folder and open up VTS_05_0.VOB with MenuEdit. Select CellIDs and press your “Edit” button. After you selected “Jump to non deleted button”, press OK and you will be prompted with a point-of-no-return confirmation. If you don’t feel confident, I would recommend you backup your VTS_05_0.* files.

Special Features Menu
VobID:5 > CellID: 1 (5 buttons) > Delete button 4, Jump to non deleted button

VobID:6 > CellID: 1 (5 buttons) > Delete button 4, Jump to non deleted button

Language and Subtitle Menu
VobID:3 > CellID: 1 (9 buttons) > Select and delete buttons 1,3,4,7, Jump to non deleted button

VobID:17 > CellID: 1 (9 buttons) > Select and delete buttons 1,3,4,7 Jump to non deleted button

15. Preview and test and if satisfied, burn what works for you. For me, I used ImgTools with Nero’s API.

@2COOL
Congrats on another excellent cheatsheet for "Dare:devil:". Very timely indeed, with premier intro of the awesome FREE backup tool DVDShrink 2.3 :D. Did with your eyes closed, huh! Guess, that makes you some "DVD Backup:devil:"???

I like to add on a few bits of backup experience:

- ALWAYS BACK UP the .IFO, .BUP files!. If you're like me, you'll need them

- From the forum tip, if you shrink to a 2nd drive it will be faster. :) Also, I try to keep compression level to 30% or less for picture quality. If no room for extras, I'll go with a simple Movie +Menu +Trailer.

- For MenuEdit tool, I have mixed feelings :). First, I missed the early registration, now the tool is just as costly and stricter licensing than say InstantCopy [after rebate]. I plan to do without the advanced features for a longer while with thanks for the free MenuEdit version. :D. Second, the tool can permanently change the menu .VOB so remmember to always back up, back up, backup!. I shot myself in the foot a coupla times without backing up, and ... back to another 30 minutes re-shrinking :(.

@2COOL, I learned your technique of bypassing Menu buttons with IFOedit and practiced it with some success . Hope you will continue to use it in your cheatsheets, as an option to the tool. Why? no Menu .VOB permanent change, and a display of your devil mastery with IFOedit!

Keep 'em guides coming! Thanks.
