Can extra text file be burned on DVD-Video

I want to include the InstantCopy settings text file on my DVD so for future reference I can see how it was compressed.

Can I do this without affecting its compatibility in standalones? And if so what program or settings must I use and does the file just go into the root directory?

Companies sometimes put bumpers or links to their web pages in the root directory, so I think it's safe to assume you can do so without breaking any kind of compatibility.
