Same as title! I always get problems playing OGM, and so do my friends. Is there any alternative to OGM? One where I could keep dual audio and soft subs?

entropy,

can you report which operating systems you're using?

Also, we're improving the OggDS filters currently, try them for playback when first betas hit the road please! I'm sure we're able to iron some bugs out. (I.e. SubTitDS is using plenty resources. Tobias wrote a version which is 15 times faster but I think he didn't release it yet. The new OggDS filters from us support VSFilter which uses less resources, too. Could solve your problem!)

Please try matroska which is coming along real nice, there is a sticky thread at the top which will give you links to downloads :)

Also, could you state what problems your having with OGM, and we'll try to work on them. Thanks :)

probably they use DivX, DivX plays with occasional jerks I think. I had this problem always and many people complained about it but there was never a solution I think

I had some black-flashing squares with divx into ogm...but that's the past, I've never used divx anymore..:)

AVI can also contain dual audio btw. so unless you're using vorbis or AAC....

Install ffdshow in cases where divx playback is jerky in OGM. It was reported in the past that this solves this issue - which is a problem of the DivX-direct show filter.

If dual audio and soft subs is all you wish, even AVI would work (if the subs are srt or ssa), unless, as Doom9 already said, you have vorbis vbr audio.
Making AAC work in AVI would also be possible with a little bit of help from Gabest, again, if it is CBR.

I'm using Windows XP. I have OggDS0995 and SubTitDS1400 installed. I have a 1GHZ P3, with 1 GB of RAM.

The audio is just all jittery.`

Is matroska like stable? Since it's so new.

@Entropy:

SubTitDS should be to blame. Uninstall it. Use ffdshow's built-in subtitle viewer (at least i believe it has one). Install gabest's subtitle filters, they'll work faster.

Please report back if that solves your issue.

Well, it depends. The truth is that both splitter/source filters aren't really optimized and like to crash a lot

But other than that it works fine and when they fix this it will be really good ;)

I have nothing against Matroska but just tried search and found 306 threads with word "Matroska". So there's lots of information...

You're welcome, I'm glad to see it's not the container but the subtitle filters which caused the trouble :)

@Koepi: There's so many things like that about OGM I don't know. If you can't get online as much now days, any chance you could write up a quick FAQ about things like that. You seem to have the most knowledge of OGM's quirks ;)

Ok, done - it's just a small starter for now as I can't remember any big issues besides those mentioned :) (very reliable - it looks like!)

Keopi - sometimes ogm's have jerky playback which can be fixed by changing from "default wavout device" to "default directsound device",perhaps you can add this to your FAQ.

Thanks kb_cruncher, i'll add that immediatly. Totally forgot about that issue :)

Does anyone have any small clips they could upload that displays this jerkyness? I've tried to re-create it but DivX plays fine for me in OGM. Thanks :)
