Trying to back up How to lose a guy in 10 days. want to put main movie on single disc with exact copy.

made iso with dvd decryp
to make movie smaller, stripped out french language using guides. This worked fine. Movie in in vob4; new, french stripped files are in vob1. Want to keep the menu so moved and re numbered the french strpd files to vts__04.xx etc

Movie plays like this but even though it is only 4.35 gb; record now dx that came with my sony 500 burner says it is too big and terminates before burning. I think the IFO files are saying that the video_ts folder is bigger than the 4.35 that it really is.

What am I doning wrong and how do I get out of this mess. I spent more than 10 days on this project!

Thanks!

Want to keep the menu so moved and re numbered the french strpd files to vts__04.xx etc:confused:Upon reading your post, I first thought you wanted to do a movie-only backup and then you want to keep your menus.

Look at the ( # bytes) in your "Size on disk:". It should be less than 4,700,000,000 bytes. Ideally, you should have your files under 4,690,000,000 bytes as writing to the edge may produce undesirable results in some DVDRs as the edge can get damage very easily down the road.

If you are exceeding 4,700,000,000 bytes and have stripped all you can, you may have to go about using other programs to use. Since your backup isn't to far over the MAX size, I recommend using DVDShrink to transcode it smaller and also it's free. As for ripping DVDs, I prefer to rip them all in File mode using DVD Decrypter.

The size is actually below 4.7; is is about 4.35 or so. It is just that with the original ifo's the burn program "thinks" the files are larger than 4.7. How do I keep the menus for the scene selection with these new vob's that had the french stripped from them?

Thanks!

I used to use the file mode but have been converted to the iso mode; can do all manips on the iso if mounted with daemon tool.

If I understand you correctly, you used ifoedit to strip out the french audio from vts_04_xx and it made a series of vts_01_xx files that you renamed to vts_04_xx and put them back into the original video_ts folder. Is that correct?

If so, I don't think it will work that way.

You load up vts_04_0.ifo into ifoedit, hit vob extras and tell it to strip streams. Make sure strip vobid and create new ifo (movie only) is uncheck. Uncheck the french audio (i'm sure you did this) Then hit strip streams. Ifoedit should create new vts_04_xx files (you won't have to rename them) Copy those files and the new vts_04_0.ifo and .bup files back into the video_ts folder overwriting the original files and do a get vts sectors.

The key here is to make sure that ifoedit is writing the same vob number and not vts_01_xx.

@dvdgrrl

What options are you checking in VOB Extras when you were stripping?:confused: The only way your VTS_04 VOBs gets renumbered to VTS_01 VOBs in your target directory is if you had your Movie Only option checked. What you should've only had was, after stripping, your VIDEO_TS.* and VTS_04_*.* files. You should also have your "copy menu files over" option checked too since you wanted to keep menus.

OK, you have given me some good advice to go and try. Will let you know how the next try goes. Thanks!
