Hi guys...recently I was talking to some encoders in the "anime scene" about fansubs and I disocovered that they used Xvid vs Divx to encode because 2 pass xvid produced better quality than npass Divx and that was enough to cause me to move to Xvid.
So I came and read the "Newbie Settings", I read Koepi's PDF about the settings, I read some other PDF about 2 pass, I read all 14 pages about Lumi Masking(took me hours to read that one but that was very cool how you guys were making all these discovereies) and read the FAQs and other various things on the Doom9 site to get a better understanding Xvid and encoding in General (though there are still things I don't understand)
Anyways - I watch my anime via the TV b/c I also encode my own discs so I don't need to take them out and I took notice a bunch of dark blocks...
But I noticed that to solve this blocking problem in dark areas you add the following commands to the AVS
mpeg2source("bla",CPU=6, lumoff=-2)
Unfilter(5,5)
Now I use Gknot to encode because its easy (please don't kill me for it) to use and I'm wondering why it will not accept the "lumoff" command...
Thanks! And If you guys have any other documents that would help me understand things more (I still don't get stuff like (1,2,16,256) and difference between YUV12 and RGB) I'd be grateful for anyway more since I want to take my knowledge a step further than the casual encoder.
