Hi,
I recently installed DivX 5.05pro (and removed gator as shown on Doom9's thread) as part of the latest GKnot rippack and the new codecpack. I previously had 5.03 which I uninstalled before installing.
The problem is that there is no uninstall icon or link to remove DivX5.05pro bundle in either the Programs Menu, the Add-Remove Programs (under control panel) or in the DivX codec folder itself. In the DivX folder there is actually a text file called "DivX pro bundle.log" which looks like it has something to do with uninstalling - full of registry keys and stuff.
Has something gone wrong during my install? How can I properly uninstall DivX if I want to? I'm not familiar with editing the registry.
Thanks.

Possibly, something went wrong during install. There should be an uninstall feature with 5.05, by pressing Start...Programs...DivX...Remove DivX Pro Codec. You could try reinstalling, to see if the command appears. On my Windows 2000 system, it runs the following shortcut:C:\WINNT\unvise32.exe C:\PROGRA~1\DivX\DIVXPR~1.LOGVideo codecs can also be removed from the Control Panel "Sound and Multimedia" applet. The steps vary slightly depending on Windows OS. In W2K, you select the Hardware tab, highlight Video codecs, press the Properties button, highlight the codec, press the Remove button.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Jggimi,
That was the problem. Somehow the unvise program had been removed from my computer as it always said "Unvise32 not found etc". I reinstalled DivX over the top of itself and the link returned. Hopefully there is no problem reinstalling it like this.

Fascinating. I went looking for unvise32 on my W2K machine, and I also am missing this program. So if I tried to uninstall it using the shortcut, it would fail.
It seems to me that this is a bug with the DivX 5.05 install package. Either 1) unvise32.exe was left out of the package, or 2) the shortcut is misspelled and it's a different .exe file, or 3) the application is available in other versions of Windows, but not W2K.
I understand that there is a DivX 5.05 "b" available. I'll install that one and if the problem is also in that version, I will report the bug to DivX Networks.
I will post a followup.

Hmmm...
I've re-installed the adware supported Pro version from both the DivX Networks website (the "b" version, I believe) as well as the (possible "a") version packaged in the Gknot codec pack 1.4. They both include and install unvise32.exe. The files are the same length and size, but have slightly different timestamps from December, 1999.
The missing file that we both had is not from a bug in the DivX install, as far as I can see. But I cannot determine why both you and I had that file missing from the Windows directory.

I actually found the answer at:
http://forums.divx.com/viewtopic.php?forum=13&topic=34503
I can't think what other program might have removed unvise as it was a fresh restore of my drive from a Ghost image and all I did after that was remove DivX 5.03 and install the new Gknot packages (with 5.05pro), in that order.
I haven't "actually" tried uninstalling DivX yet, but the link seems to be back. Someone replied to my post (same as this one) on DivX forums that reinstalling over the top of itself should be fine.
