Hello,

I did a rip the other day of a DVD (Once Apon A Time In New York - disc 2 Pal version) and had a weird problem. I ripped using DVD Decrypter, selecting just the main PGC chain. The VOBs were transferred to my hard disk without any errors, except that the first VOB file had no sound. All other VOBs did have sound. The weird thing is that when I processed the VOB through DVD2AVI to get an AC3 file it did work. I had a sound file. Did I perhaps do the ripping using DVD Decrypter incorrectly or could it have been a strange effect from this specific DVD. I have not had any problems with the many rips previous to this one.
Incidently the same problem occured using Smart Ripper.
This is not really an important problem, just interested to know what the cause might have been.

Thanks for any suggestions.

i had the same problem when i first started, i think the problem (for me) was that at the beginning of the 1st vob, it has the fbi warning screen or something non-related to the movie that was all silent (no sound), so i guess it carry-on through the 1st vob.

don't really remember if i fixed it, but i'm guessing you have to uncheck the cell that contain "that" part.

Its because the players just dont pick it up correctly. It has nothing what-so-ever to do with the ripper.

If you had ripped and played the files having followed the 'playback from hdd' guide on the website you wouldnt have any problems.
Playing the raw vob files is always prone to problems. The players like to have the entire dvd structure in place.
